•The world is in the hands of zombies caused by a failed experiment. Some groups of volunteers, called Zombi Squad, try to keep the situation under control, but must face a sect of fanatics who raise zombies in an old school. Bookwalter's debut film, shot in Super8 (it is the most expensive film ever shot on this format) and produced by Sam Raimi (who cuts himself a tiny cameo) owes a lot to Romero and O’Bannon. All in all, it is well shot, with framing in the style of “The House” and good special effects that, despite the absurd budget, do not fall into the ridiculous. Too bad the actors are not the best in expressiveness (after all, they worked for free…) as well as some sound effects (the speech of the living dead) seem made with an old Amiga (always better than those of Schnaas' films, however). Recommended for lovers of low-budget films.
