An American village is visited by some unknown life form which leaves the women of the village pregnant. Nine months later, the babies are born, and they all look normal, but it doesn't take the "parents" long to realize that the kids are not human or humane.

Remake of the ‘60s film, identical plot except for the setting: in an American village instead of a Scottish one. One of Carpenter’s few disappointing films, based on a story that had already said all it had to say in the ‘60s film, the movie drags on slowly until the predictable ending. No bloody, scary, or suspenseful sequences, and the special effects leave something to be desired. Carpenter usually claims he loves all his films like his own children; we’re sure he loves this one a little less than the others…
