BEYOND THE DARKNESS

A rich and eccentric man lives in a huge villa with his girlfriend and the housekeeper. When his companion dies, the man decides to embalm her and keep her at home. The maid supports him. The young man begins to go crazy and kill all the women who cross his path, then hides the corpses in the most bizarre ways possible, helped by his housekeeper. The arrival of the sister of the deceased girlfriend and the curiosity of a man will put an end to the deeds of the two. The sickest and most beautiful film by the controversial Italian director: we are given plenty of gruesome scenes of necrophilia and blood (including torn and dismembered corpses, devoured hearts, torn nails), for the happiness of the spectators who love the genre with strong stomachs. It's a shame that, as usual, the screenplay and the performances of some actors leave something to be desired. It is unthinkable to make a film like this in Italy today, which is why "Buio Omega" is a must-see for all horror lovers. The film was released in 1979 but had a re-release in the early 1980s with the title "In Quella Casa Buio Omega"; the only completely uncut version is the one recently edited by LF.
