•In Bodega Bay, a small town south of San Francisco, a strange event occurs: a seagull attacks a girl. It is only the first episode that marks the beginning of an assault by birds that start attacking humans. The protagonist barely manages to save himself and his loved ones. A classic thriller signed by the great master of the genre Alfred Hitchcock, rich in suspense with a plot as simple as it is effective and with a perfect cast (among others Rod Taylor and Suzanne Pleshette). A theme dear to fantasy cinema: nature revolting against humanity, to which this time Hitchcock decides not to give an explanation or a semblance of logical motivation, thus giving the story an aura of mystery and apparent illogicality that further increases the suspense. The special effects are impressive, especially considering that it was the early sixties, and some of the sequences manage to strike even the modern viewer accustomed to the wonders of computer graphics; the final scene of the film, when the protagonist tries to reach his car and, having exited the bunker-house, finds himself facing a stretch of birds that covers the house, the beach, the cars is still astonishing and unsettling at the same time. An absolute cult must-see.
