•A radioactive cloud contaminates birds, which bite some people turning them into zombies and starting an epidemic that, in a short time, spreads like wildfire. Some unlucky individuals, catapulted into this situation, try to save their lives.
The film is signed by Fulci for commercial reasons, in reality, it is only fifty minutes of footage, while the rest was shot by the duo Mattei-Fragasso, after Fulci's abandonment of the set for health reasons. On the authorship of this film there is nothing certain, Fulci has always claimed that "Zombi 3" could not be considered his film, while Mattei and Fragasso have repeatedly confirmed that their work was only a "completion" to the film, almost entirely shot, according to them, by Fulci.
Watching the film, one understands the reason for this dispute: no one, in fact, wants to be credited with such a bad film and sometimes even in bad taste, "embellished" with more than ridiculous effects. Not even good enough to be considered trash.
Curiosity: as a demonstration of the bad relationships that arose on the set between the duo Fragasso-Mattei and master Fulci, there remains the sequence (of dubious taste) in which Mattei and Fragasso appear in the scene as two soldiers burning in an incinerator a corpse with a disproportionately bloated stomach, which closely resembles the physical features of the late Fulci; at that time, in fact, the director, due to diabetes, suffered from a severe form of water retention that had caused him, precisely, a huge swelling of the abdomen.
