A mad killer spreads death in an American town. A brave police officer manages to eliminate him by discovering that his true identity is that of a werewolf. Once the threat is gone, everything is silenced and the case is closed. The woman, confused and almost convinced that she had only stress-induced hallucinations, decides to go on a vacation to a mountain clinic, following a colleague's advice. Far from the city's chaos, the woman hopes to forget the terrible event, but it is not so. Her nightmares return: the vacation is actually a trap, almost all the staff and guests of the care home are actually bloodthirsty werewolves determined to avenge the death of their companion and to hide their existence from the world... Released almost simultaneously with "An American Werewolf in London", it is, along with this, one of the best films ever made on the myth of werewolves. Stunning and effective makeup effects (by a very young Rob Bottin, who will also work on "The Thing" by Carpenter), an intriguing plot thanks to an original and well-written script, and the solid direction of expert Joe Dante ("Piranha", "Gremlins") have ensured the success of a film that boasts four official sequels (all, by the way, of poor quality). For fans of the genre, a cult not to be missed!
