A rogue scientist near a small desert town arouses the suspicion of the town's doctor when his lab assistant is found dead from a case of acromegaly, which took only four days to develop. As the doctor investigates, aided by the scientist's new female assistant, they discover that something is devouring local cattle and humans in increasingly large quantities.

Un incauto scienziato crea un mostro: bombardando con radiazioni atomiche una tarantola, ne accresce spropositatamente le dimensioni fino a renderla un enorme mostro apparentemente indistruttibili ed in grado di radere al suolo intere città. Alla fine la minaccia viene sventata dall’aviazione militare Uno dei più noti fanta-horror anni cinquanta. Apprezzabile e assolutamente divertente nella sua semplicità e godibilità da classico B-movie; i datati effetti speciali, in un certo senso, ne accrescono il fascino e lo fanno assurgere a ruolo di cult del genere. Da vedere.
