Who has never dreamed of owning a magic lamp to rub and a genie ready to grant every wish? And what happens if the genie turns into an evil creature ready to steal the soul of people who express their wishes? Djinn is an evil genie imprisoned in a bright red opal detached from an exotic statue. To free him is Alexandra, a young art expert, who after a visit to the collector Raymond Beaumont's house, will soon realize how everyone who comes into contact with Djinn becomes a victim of their own desires. Directed by Robert Kurtzman, famous makeup artist of "Alien" and "Predator" and produced by Wes Craven, the film, which had all the cards to be a good horror, ends up being a failed attempt. Beautiful the first sequences set in a sort of fantasy past, then for the rest, apart from some «original and curious» deaths, a lot of boredom. Movie ruined especially by the bad script and by low-cost computer-generated special effects.
