Horror subgenres

British horror

British horror has given the genre some of its most recognisable eras: Hammer's colour Gothic from 1957, with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, the Amicus anthologies and the birth of folk horror. After the video-nasty panic of the 1980s, it was reborn in the new century with 28 Days Later (2002), The Descent (2005) and a new generation of filmmakers.
